Rhinoplasty (Nose Aesthetics)

Located exactly in the center of our face, the nose is the most dominant organ that determines our expression, our gaze, and the overall harmony of our face.

When you look in the mirror, having a humped nose, a drooping tip, a nose that is too wide for your face, or an asymmetrical stance can overshadow your self-confidence. However, beyond aesthetic concerns, the nose has a vital function: breathing.

A Perfect Profile with Rhinoplasty: Breathing, Natural, and in Harmony with the Face

A deviated septum (cartilage) or enlarged nasal turbinates (concha) can obstruct healthy breathing, lowering sleep quality and daily life comfort. Dr. Andan Clinic approaches Rhinoplasty (Nose Aesthetics) operations not just as an aesthetic shaping, but as a functional and visual improvement process (Functional Rhinoplasty).

Rhinoplasty is among the most frequently performed aesthetic surgeries in the world. However, it is also the operation where the surgeon’s technical skill and artistic vision are tested the most. This is because every nose is as unique as a fingerprint, and a “one-size-fits-all” nose does not suit everyone.

At Dr. Andan Clinic, our goal is to create a nose that does not look like it has undergone surgery, remains faithful to the golden ratios of the face, beautifies you without distorting your character, and most importantly, allows you to breathe comfortably.

Piezo Surgery (Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty): Shaping Technology Without Breaking

When nose aesthetics are mentioned, the biggest fears of patients are the bruising and swelling that will occur after surgery, and the sound of “bone breaking.”

The hammers and chisels used in traditional methods can damage surrounding tissues and cause a traumatic recovery process because they shape the bone by breaking it. However, Piezo Surgery used by Dr. Andan Clinic has completely changed this process.

Piezo is a high-technology device that works with ultrasonic sound waves. The tip of this device only cuts and shapes hard tissue (bone); it stops when it contacts soft tissue (vessels, nerves, muscles, mucosa). Thanks to this “tissue-selective” feature:

  • Nasal bones are sculpted and shaped with the precision of a sculptor without being broken.

  • Since vessels are not damaged, bleeding is minimum; accordingly, post-operative bruising and swelling (edema) are very low.

  • The recovery process accelerates, and patients return to their social lives much faster.

  • Since the bone line is smooth, irregularities that can be felt by hand do not occur.

Open Technique or Closed Technique? Which One is Right for You?

The technique used in rhinoplasty is determined according to the patient’s nasal structure and the scope of the procedure to be performed.

  • Open Rhinoplasty: This involves lifting the nasal skin with a small incision made across the columella (the pillar between the nostrils). This method allows the surgeon to clearly see the entire anatomy of the nose (3D dominance). Dr. Andan Clinic generally prefers the open technique, especially for serious deviations, nasal tip revisions, and the use of Piezo surgery. The scar remains at the base of the columella and becomes completely indistinct over time.

  • Closed Rhinoplasty: This is the technique where all incisions are made inside the nose, leaving no external scars. It may be preferred for more limited corrections (e.g., just removing a hump). Recovery may be slightly faster, but the surgeon’s field of vision is restricted.

Which technique will be used is decided based on the needs of the patient following a detailed examination, 3D simulation, and photograph analysis performed at Dr. Andan Clinic.

Nasal Tip Aesthetics (Tipplasty) and Revision Rhinoplasty

In some patients, there is no problem with the bone structure (hump); the problem is only at the tip of the nose. The nasal tip may be too wide, low, asymmetrical, or “bulbous.” In this case, Tipplasty (Nasal Tip Aesthetics) is performed, where only the cartilage tissue is intervened without touching the bones. The recovery process is much faster and more comfortable.

On the other hand, Revision Rhinoplasty is applied for patients who have previously had surgery at another center but are not satisfied with the result or whose breathing problem persists. Revision surgery is more technical and difficult than the first surgery; sometimes, cartilage harvesting (grafting) from the ribs or ears may be required. Dr. Andan Clinic, with its experience in revision surgery, specializes in bringing unhappy patients to the nose of their dreams.

A beautiful nose brings out your eyes, highlights your cheekbones, and beautifies your smile. Rhinoplasty is not just an aesthetic operation, but a process that rebuilds your self-confidence. Dr. Andan Clinic, with its advanced technology and “natural nose” philosophy, is by your side to offer you the profile that breathes and suits your face the most.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What factors influence the cost of rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty prices are determined based on the complexity of the surgery (whether it is a primary or revision procedure), the technique used (Piezo, open/closed), whether additional procedures (septoplasty, concha radiofrequency) will be performed, and the choice of hospital. The exact price is provided after the consultation.

No, this is an old fear. At our clinic, we use silicone splints that are hollow in the middle (allowing breathing) and have a smooth surface. These splints do not stick to the tissue, and when removed, the patient feels no pain, only a slight tingling and a sense of relief.

When the plaster cast and bandages are removed (on the 7th to 10th day), you will see your nose’s new shape, but it will still be swollen. Approximately 80% of the swelling subsides within the first 3 months. The complete thinning of the nasal skin, its settling onto the bone, and the attainment of its final shape may take 6 months in patients with thin skin and 1 to 1.5 years in patients with thick skin.

Thick skin can mask the underlying cartilage and bone shaping and delay the resolution of oedema. However, successful results can be achieved in patients with thick skin using the correct techniques (cartilage supports, special sutures). Dr. Andan Clinic supports these patients with post-operative oedema-reducing treatments.
