Facial Plastic Surgery

Facial Plastic Surgery

Our face is the most distinct part of our identity and our window to the world. However, our genetic heritage, the inevitable effect of gravity, the aging process, and environmental factors lead to structural deterioration in facial anatomy over time.

The skin loses its elasticity, the connective tissues supporting the face loosen, and fat pads diminish or shift. At a certain stage, medical aesthetic applications (fillers, Botox) become insufficient to correct these anatomical deformations. This is where Facial Plastic Surgery, the most refined field of medicine, comes into play.

Dr. Andan Clinic aims to provide patients with more than just a “better” look through advanced surgical techniques; we aim to anatomically restore the dynamic facial contours of years past.

Facial plastic surgery includes comprehensive surgical procedures such as facelifts, eyelid surgery, brow lifts, neck repair, and ear aesthetics. The primary goal of these operations is not to turn the person into someone else, but to work on the individual’s own bone and muscle structure to reveal a “younger, fresher, and more rested version” of themselves. The modern surgical philosophy adopted by Dr. Andan Clinic avoids creating mask-like, frozen faces, focusing instead on preserving natural expressions, hiding scars, and achieving a result so natural that it “doesn’t look like surgery.”

Facelift and Neck Lift Surgery

Sagging cheeks, the fading of the jawline, and the formation of a “double chin” on the neck—the most prominent signs of aging—are problems related to deep tissues, not just the skin. Facelift Surgery (Rhytidectomy) involves removing excess sagging skin tissue and surgically tightening and repositioning the SMAS (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System), the actual supporting muscle layer, to its original place.

Thanks to advanced surgical techniques applied in our clinic today, such as the Deep Plane Facelift, all layers supporting the face are restored. This results in much more permanent, natural outcomes that do not distort facial expressions.

For aesthetic integrity, a facelift is usually combined with Neck Lift Surgery. Neck muscle laxity (platysma bands) and “turkey neck” deformities are corrected to recreate that youthful and sharp angle between the chin and the neck. Dr. Andan Clinic hides incisions in the natural folds in front of and behind the ear, ensuring that scars are nearly invisible after healing.

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) and Brow Lift

Drooping eyelids and under-eye bags are periorbital (eye area) signs of aging that make a person look much older, tired, and sad than they actually are. Severe upper eyelid sagging (dermatochalasis) can also lead to functional loss by narrowing the field of vision.

Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) is the process of removing excess skin and muscle tissue from the upper eyelid and correcting herniated fat bags in the lower eyelid. This surgery is the most effective anatomical correction for erasing a tired expression from the face.

Eye area surgery is often supported by a Brow Lift or Temporal Lift. Drooping brows crowd the eyelids and close off the gaze. Endoscopic surgical methods or thread-based brow lifts grant the eyes a more open, vibrant, and attractive expression.

Prominent Ear Surgery (Otoplasty)

Another important area of facial plastic surgery is the correction of the ear structure. When the angle of the auricle relative to the skull is wider than normal (prominent ear), it can lead to psychological trauma and a lack of self-confidence starting from childhood. Otoplasty is the surgical reshaping and pinning back of the ear cartilage.

At Dr. Andan Clinic, otoplasty operations are performed through a small incision behind the ear, leaving no visible scar from the outside. This is a reconstructive procedure with a very high satisfaction rate, restoring a person’s freedom to tie back their hair and strengthening their social presence.

Facial Plastic Surgery does more than just erase the effects of time; it refreshes a person’s self-respect and life energy. With the possibilities offered by modern medicine, the perception that the “recovery process is too difficult” has been dismantled. With the right surgical technique, an expert plastic surgeon, and good post-operative care, it is possible to return to social life in a short time. If the face you see in the mirror does not reflect the energy within you, or if sagging tissues and deep deformations make you unhappy, it is time to meet the expert staff of Dr. Andan Clinic.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Do facial plastic surgery procedures leave scars?

Every surgical incision leaves a scar; however, the art of plastic surgery is to conceal these scars. In facelift surgery, incisions are hidden in the hairline at the temples, in the crease in front of the ear (tragus), and behind the ear. Once healing is complete, these scars blend with the skin tone and are not noticeable unless looked at closely.

This decision is made based on the degree of deformation. Medical methods (thread lift, filler) may be a temporary solution for mild sagging. However, if there is significant excess skin, deep sagging, and muscle laxity (SMAS sagging), non-surgical methods are insufficient. Surgery is the most appropriate option for a definitive, anatomical, and long-term solution.

Surgical procedures turn back the biological clock by 10-15 years. The aging process does not stop after surgery; it continues. However, even years later, a person who has undergone surgery continues to look anatomically much younger than their peers who have not had surgery. The results are incomparably longer-lasting than medical aesthetic procedures.

Blepharoplasty is a tissue removal procedure performed on the eyelids, not the eyeball; therefore, it does not damage vision. On the contrary, if excess skin accumulation on the upper eyelid is obstructing the field of vision, the patient’s field of vision will widen after surgery, allowing for more comfortable vision.

Approximately 90% of ear development is complete by age 6. Therefore, to prevent the child from being exposed to peer bullying during school age and suffering psychological effects, it is recommended that ear pinning surgery (otoplasty) be performed from age 6 onwards, before starting school. It can also be performed safely at any age in adulthood.
