Breast Aesthetics

Breast Aesthetic Surgery

The female body exists in an aesthetic integrity and harmony. The most prominent symbol of this harmony and the strongest expression of femininity is undoubtedly the breasts.

However, not every woman is born with the breast structure she dreams of, or the abrasive effects of time (gravity, aging, weight fluctuations) and the processes of motherhood (pregnancy, breastfeeding) can lead to unwanted changes in breast tissue. Very small breasts can lead to a lack of self-confidence, excessively large breasts to physical pain, and sagging breasts to a distorted body perception. Dr. Andan Clinic, with its expertise in Breast Aesthetic Surgery, aims to improve not only the physical appearance of women but also their quality of life and psychological well-being.

Redefining the Feminine Silhouette and Self-Confidence with Breast Aesthetics

Contrary to popular belief, breast aesthetics is not a “one-size-fits-all” concept of beauty. At Dr. Andan Clinic, our philosophy is: “What is most harmonious is beautiful, not what is largest.” Through personalized planning that takes into account your shoulder width, rib cage structure, height, and hip ratio, we achieve natural, proportional, and aesthetic results. Thanks to FDA-approved implants and modern surgical techniques, breast aesthetic operations are now much safer, recovery times are much faster, and results are permanent for a lifetime.

Breast Augmentation (Augmentation Mammoplasty): The Fullness of Your Dreams

Breast augmentation is the process of providing the desired fullness and form to the breasts with silicone prostheses in cases where breast volume is insufficient. This operation is the aesthetic procedure with the highest satisfaction rate and is the most preferred by women worldwide.

Choosing the Right Prosthesis: Teardrop or Round? The success of breast augmentation depends on choosing the prosthesis best suited for your body. In detailed analyses performed at Dr. Andan Clinic, two main prosthesis types are evaluated:

  • Round Prosthesis: These are hemispherical in shape. They fill not only the bottom but also the upper part of the breast (the décolletage area). They are ideal for those who want a firm and full look that appears “as if wearing a push-up bra” even without one.

  • Teardrop (Anatomic) Prosthesis: These resemble the natural breast shape (thin at the top, full at the bottom). They provide the most natural result for thin patients with very little breast tissue and for those who say, “I don’t want it to be obvious that I had surgery.”

Under the Muscle or Over the Muscle? Where the prosthesis is placed determines the naturalness of the result. In the Dual Plane (Under the Muscle) technique frequently preferred at our clinic, the upper part of the prosthesis is hidden under the pectoral muscle. Thus, even in thin patients, the edges of the prosthesis are not felt, and the transition is smooth and natural. The incision is usually hidden in the inframammary fold (the crease under the breast), making the scar invisible.

Breast Reduction (Reduction Mammoplasty): The Freedom of Lightness

Large breasts may look aesthetic from the outside, but for women with this condition, it is a serious health issue (Macromastia). Breasts that are excessively large and heavy relative to body measurements threaten spinal health. This operation is a functional necessity rather than an aesthetic concern.

Problems Caused by Large Breasts:

  • Chronic neck, back, and shoulder pain.

  • Bra straps leaving deep marks on the shoulders.

  • Rashes, fungal infections, and odors due to sweating in the inframammary fold.

  • Posture disorders (Kyphosis/hunching) and restricted movement.

In Breast Reduction surgery performed at Dr. Andan Clinic, excess breast tissue, fat, and skin are removed. The nipple is moved to a higher, more appropriate point, and the breast is lifted. It is not just a reduction, but a kind of “reshaping” process. Our patients feel a great weight lifted off their shoulders from the moment they leave surgery. Scars (in a Lollipop or Inverted T shape) fade over time to match skin tone and remain an insignificant detail compared to the patient’s newfound comfort.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy): Defy Gravity

Weight fluctuations, aging, gravity, and especially the pregnancy-breastfeeding processes cause the breast tissue to lose its volume and the skin to sag (Breast Ptosis). The nipple points downward, and the breasts look “deflated.” Breast Lift is the process of reshaping the sagging breast tissue, moving it upward, and removing excess skin.

With or Without a Prosthesis? This decision is made based on the volume of your existing breast tissue:

  • Lifting Only: If your breast volume is sufficient (large but sagging), only your own tissue is reshaped and lifted. No external silicone is placed.

  • Lifting with Prosthesis (Augmentation Mastopexy): If the inside of the breast is completely empty after breastfeeding (if there is volume loss), simply stretching the skin is not enough. Both a lift is performed and a small silicone prosthesis is used to regain the volume the breast has lost.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Do silicone implants burst or cause cancer?

No. The fifth-generation cohesive gel-filled implants used today are extremely safe products that do not leak or lose their shape even if cut. There is no risk of rupture except in cases of severe penetrating trauma. Furthermore, scientific studies have proven that silicone implants do not cause breast cancer.

In breast augmentation surgery, the implant is placed behind the mammary glands (under the muscle), so it does not damage the milk ducts; you can breastfeed safely. In breast reduction and lift surgeries, the technique is planned in a way that preserves the milk ducts (pedicle-preserving). A very large proportion of patients (70-80%) are able to breastfeed after surgery.

In breast augmentation surgery (especially submuscular), pressure and tightness in the muscles may be felt for the first 2-3 days, but this can be controlled with painkillers. Breast reduction and lift surgeries, on the other hand, are much less painful than commonly believed. Patients can usually return to their daily light activities within 3-5 days.

In breast augmentation surgery, the scar is hidden in the crease under the breast and is almost invisible. In reduction and lift surgeries, however, there are scars (Lollipop or Inverted T-shaped). However, these scars are closed with aesthetic stitches and fade within a year, blending with the skin tone and becoming completely hidden under a bikini.

In the past, it was recommended that prostheses be replaced every 10 years. However, new technology implants are considered “lifetime.” As long as a rare complication such as capsular contracture does not develop, you can use your prostheses for life.
