Cheekbones are the most important supporting points of the concept known as the “Triangle of Youth” in facial aesthetics. On a youthful face, cheekbones are full and high; the face thins as it descends toward the jawline.
This provides the face with a dynamic, energetic, and attractive expression. However, with the aging process, the fat pads in the midface melt and shift downward under the influence of gravity. This causes the cheekbones to become faint, the cheeks to hollow out, and the nasolabial (side of the nose) grooves to deepen. The result is a tired, sagging, and sad expression.
Dr. Andan Clinic creates a non-surgical lifting effect by re-strengthening the “suspension” points of your face through Cheek Filler applications.
Cheek filler does not simply mean inflating the cheeks. When performed with the correct technique, it lifts the face upward, camouflages under-eye bags, and helps the jawline appear more prominent. In our clinic, we personally plan touches that regain lost volume or those sharp and attractive lines known as the “Top Model Look,” without disrupting the natural anatomy of the face.
The greatest advantage of cheek filler is that it provides a recovery that affects the entire face, not just the region where it is applied. Our face can be thought of as a tent; the cheekbones are the poles of this tent. When the poles (bone and fat tissue) weaken, the tent fabric (skin) sags downward.
Dr. Andan Clinic physicians provide the following effects by performing filler injections at strategic points on the highest part of the cheekbone (Zygoma) and the cheek hollow:
Lifting: Sagging cheek tissue is pulled upward. This softens the lines near the nose (nasolabial) and the sagging at the corners of the mouth (marionette).
Under-Eye Support: Cheek filler smoothes the transition between the under-eye hollow and the cheek. Sometimes, performing only a cheek filler can eliminate the need for an under-eye light filler.
V-Shape Form: Since the upper part of the face becomes fuller and the lower part appears thinner, the ideal “V” face shape is achieved.
The biggest fear our patients have regarding cheek filler is the “Pillow Face” syndrome—frequently seen in the media—where eyes appear smaller and cheeks are excessively swollen. This condition is a result of incorrect techniques and overdosing.
At Dr. Andan Clinic, we act on the principle that “Less is more”:
Deep Plane Application: The filler is placed on the bone membrane (periosteum), not just under the skin. This allows the filler to mimic the bone structure, displaying a bony and noble stance rather than artificial softness when viewed from the outside.
Correct Product Selection: Specialized hyaluronic acid fillers with high lifting capacity (G Prime) that are firm and maintain their shape are used for the cheek area.
The procedure takes approximately 15–20 minutes in a clinic environment. Blunt-tipped cannulas are usually preferred over needles. The use of a cannula minimizes the risk of vascular damage and bruising. Thanks to the anesthetic agent within the filler, pain is almost non-existent.
Because the cheekbone area is less mobile compared to other parts of the face (like the lips), the permanence of the filler is quite long. Depending on the product used and the individual’s metabolism, it shows permanence between 18 and 24 months.
Cheek filler is the most powerful medical aesthetic procedure for restoring the architecture of the face. You can trust the expertise of Dr. Andan Clinic to erase your tired expression and have a younger, more photogenic face.
No. When done correctly (on the bone) and in the right amount, the eyes do not shrink. On the contrary, because the cheekbone rises, the eyes may appear more lively and almond-shaped (almond eye effect). The eyes shrink when the filler is applied in the wrong place (too close to the eye) and superficially.
The cheek area does not tend to swell much. There will be slight swelling after the procedure, but this will not prevent you from participating in social activities. The swelling will completely subside within 2-3 days, and clear lines will appear.
Yes, indirectly. When volume is added to the cheekbone, the sagging cheek skin is lifted. This opens up the grooves at the sides of the nose. Often, this problem can be solved with cheek filler alone, without the need for filler in the nasolabial area.
Thanks to the creams applied before the procedure and the lidocaine in the filler, pain is minimal. Our patients usually describe a slight pressure sensation.
High-quality, firm fillers (volume-effective) do not shift or move when applied to the bone. When the filler dissolves, the face does not sag; it simply returns to its original state. In fact, because the skin is nourished during the filler period, it may remain in better condition than before.
