With the changing perception of beauty over the last decade, the “size zero” fashion has given way to curvy, athletic, and full contours. A thin waist, wide hips, and a prominent, round buttock appearance (the Hourglass Body) have become the new symbols of femininity.
However, hours of “squat” exercises in the gym are often insufficient to change genetic structure and provide the desired fullness. In fact, sometimes even if the gluteal muscles develop through sports, the buttocks may appear flatter because the overlying fat tissue melts away. At this point, one of the most popular and highly demanded surgeries in aesthetic surgery, the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), comes into play.
Dr. Andan Clinic views BBL surgery not just as a “buttock augmentation” procedure, but as a total art of body sculpting. Because the secret to a beautiful buttock is not just its size, but the flawless transition between the waist and the back. It is possible to achieve the curves of your dreams with this “recycling” surgery, where excess fat in your body is removed and transferred to the areas where it is lacking.
The greatest advantage of BBL surgery is that it is performed entirely with the person’s own natural fat tissue, without placing a foreign substance (implant) like silicone into the body. This procedure offers a “2-in-1” benefit:
Slimming (Liposuction Phase): First, stubborn fats in areas such as the waist, abdomen, back (love handles), and inner thighs are removed using the Vaser Liposuction technique. This reveals the waist indentation and prepares the ground for the buttocks to appear more prominent.
Volumizing (Injection Phase): These harvested fats are purified through special processes (enriched with stem cells) and injected into the upper and middle parts of the buttocks to give a round, lifted form.
Buttock prostheses (silicone) are generally preferred for very thin patients who have no fat at all. However, for every patient with sufficient fat tissue, the first choice of Dr. Andan Clinic is always fat injection due to its naturalness and tissue compatibility.
The most common question patients have regarding BBL surgery is, “Will the injected fats melt?” Yes, a portion of the injected fats (around 30-40%) is absorbed by the body. However, the remaining 60-70% continues to live permanently in that area.
The most important factor determining the permanence rate is how the fat is harvested. The Vaser (Ultrasonic) Liposuction technology used at Dr. Andan Clinic harvests fat cells by gently liquefying them without breaking them. Since the cells maintain their vitality, their attachment (survival) rate is much higher when transferred to the buttocks. In classical liposuction methods, the melting rate is much higher because the fat cells are damaged.
Brazilian Butt Lift is a safe surgery when performed with the correct techniques, but it can be risky in hands that do not master the anatomy. It is of vital importance that the fats are injected under the skin (subcutaneous) and into the fat tissue, not into the muscle.
Dr. Andan Clinic surgeons strictly adhere to international safety standards (Safe BBL Guidelines) and perform fat injection only into safe planes. Our goal is not just aesthetic beauty, but always patient health first.
BBL surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes an average of 2-3 hours. The most critical rule of the recovery process is not to sit directly on the buttocks for the first 3 weeks so that the transferred fats are not subjected to pressure. Our patients are given special BBL pillows; these pillows support the thigh bone, allowing the buttocks to remain suspended.
Additionally, a special corset must be worn for 4-6 weeks to shape the liposuctioned areas and reduce edema. In the first few days, rather than sharp pain, there may be muscle soreness (a feeling of stiffness) caused by liposuction. Patients can generally return to work within 1 week.
The Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is a magical touch that completely changes body proportions, highlighting the hips while making the waist look very thin, and giving the woman back her feminine power. To have your clothes fit perfectly and to walk on the beach with confidence, you can trust the body sculpting expertise of Dr. Andan Clinic. The “hourglass” body of your dreams might be hidden within your own fat.
You do not need to be ‘overweight’ for BBL, but you must have enough ‘spare fat’ on your body to shape the buttocks. Generally, people with a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 23 and 30 are ideal candidates. For very thin individuals, where there may not be sufficient fat, prosthetic or filler methods may be considered.
Your own fat is a living tissue; if you gain weight, your bum will grow, and if you lose weight, it will shrink. However, over the years, natural sagging may occur due to ageing and the effects of gravity. BBL surgery both enlarges and lifts the bum (lifting effect), which delays sagging for a long time.
As BBL surgery is performed using liposuction cannulas and injection cannulas, there are no incision scars. There are only tiny 3-4 mm points where the cannulas are inserted. These points are concealed within the bikini line and fade over time, becoming invisible.
Exercise (squats, lunges, etc.) builds the gluteus maximus muscle and lifts the buttocks. However, exercise cannot fill in the hollows on the sides of the buttocks (hip dips) or slim the waist. Achieving the round, full hourglass shape that BBL provides is anatomically very difficult through exercise alone.
To prevent bruising and distortion of shape, lying face down or on your side is recommended for the first 3 weeks. After the 3rd week, you can gradually begin to lie on your back and sit up with pillow support.
