In female anatomy, the region between the vaginal entrance and the anus is called the “Perineum.” This small but significant area is the junction point of the pelvic floor muscles and ensures the integrity of genital aesthetics.
However, surgical incisions (episiotomy) made during natural childbirth to facilitate the baby’s head delivery, or uncontrolled tearing, can leave permanent damage in this region. Issues such as poor scar tissue formation, raised or sunken stitch marks, and a gaping appearance of the vaginal entrance can cause both aesthetic and sexual discomfort for a woman.
Dr. Andan Clinic erases these negative traces left by childbirth with Perineoplasty (Perineal Repair) surgery. Our goal is not just to make an aesthetic correction, but to tighten the vaginal entrance by repairing the loosened perineal muscles and increase your quality of sexual life.
The most common cause of deformations in the perineal region is vaginal delivery.
Episiotomy Scars: The incision made during birth sometimes does not heal properly. Stitches may open, become infected, or the body may produce excessive healing tissue, creating a hard, painful, and raised scar in that area.
Gaping Vaginal Entrance: Due to the relaxation of muscles after birth, the vaginal entrance may remain “open.” This can lead to frequent vaginal infections, the sound of escaping air, and a loss of sensation during intercourse.
Aging: With gravity and loss of collagen, perineal tissue may sag and lose its elasticity.
Perineoplasty involves principles of both aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Andan Clinic surgeons follow these steps with personalized planning:
Removal of Scar Tissue: First, poorly healed, hardened, or sunken stitch marks (scar tissue) from previous births are completely removed surgically.
Muscle Repair: The loosened and separated muscles in the perineal region (superficial and deep planes) are brought back together and tightened. This process narrows the vaginal entrance and supports the pelvic floor.
Aesthetic Closure: Excess skin is removed, and the area is given a smooth, neat appearance using aesthetic suturing techniques. The distance between the vaginal entrance and the anus is restored to its ideal anatomical form.
Perineoplasty increases sexual pleasure both directly and indirectly.
Pain Relief: Poorly healed episiotomy scars can cause pain during sexual intercourse (dyspareunia). Correcting these scars eliminates the pain.
Tightening: Refining the vaginal entrance increases the sensation of friction, allowing both the woman and her partner to experience more pleasure.
Self-Confidence: Improving the aesthetic appearance of the genital area refreshes a woman’s self-confidence during sexual intimacy.
Perineoplasty is a comfortable procedure that takes approximately 30–45 minutes and can usually be performed under local anesthesia or sedation. It is frequently preferred to be performed in the same session as Vaginoplasty (vaginal tightening).
Hospital Stay: Generally not required; the patient can be discharged the same day.
Pain: There may be mild stinging after the procedure, which is controlled with simple painkillers. There is no need to use a sitting donut.
Hygiene: Keeping the area dry and clean and performing antiseptic care after every bathroom visit is critical for healing.
Stitches: The sutures used are self-dissolving and do not need to be removed.
Birth marks or structural deteriorations are not your destiny. Dr. Andan Clinic reconstructs the perineal region to offer you a genital structure that is both aesthetically flawless and functionally healthy. Meet our professional support to feel better and regain your sexual comfort.
You can become pregnant medically. However, attempting a vaginal delivery again with repaired and tightened perineal tissue can cause the stitches to tear and compromise the aesthetic outcome of the procedure. Therefore, a cesarean delivery is recommended after perineoplasty.
Perineoplasty is performed to “remove the old unsightly scar.” Instead of the old rough scar, a much finer, smoother, and more aesthetically pleasing line (incision scar) is created. Since the genital area is well supplied with blood, this new scar heals quickly and becomes less noticeable over time.
A sexual abstinence period of 4-6 weeks is required for the stitches to fully heal and for the tissue to regain its strength. Premature intercourse may cause the wound to reopen.
Vaginoplasty narrows the entire length of the vaginal canal. Perineoplasty corrects the entrance to the vagina and the external perineal area (birth scars). For optimal results, both procedures are usually performed together (Combined Genital Aesthetics).
Since anesthesia is administered during the surgery, no pain is felt. The area may be sensitive afterward, but pain that would restrict daily life is not expected. Our patients can return to work within 2-3 days.
