Curvilinear Trim Technique (Edge Removal): This is the most frequently preferred method. The sagging and often darkened edge of the inner lip is removed along its length. The Advantage: Since the dark, rough edges are completely discarded, the genital area both shrinks and rejuvenates as its color becomes pinker. The recovery process is quite fast.
Wedge Technique (V-Excision): This involves removing a “V-shaped” piece (wedge) from the most sagging middle part of the lip and suturing the upper and lower edges together. The Advantage: The natural edge structure of the lip is preserved. However, if there is color darkness at the edges, this technique does not provide a color change.
The aim is to achieve the aesthetic result often referred to in literature as the “Barbie Vagina,” where the inner lips remain hidden between the outer lips, appearing as a smooth slit when viewed from the outside.
Labiaplasty is a practical procedure that takes approximately 45 minutes, with patient comfort at the forefront. It is generally performed under local anesthesia or sedation (light sleep state).

No, absolutely not. Labiaplasty is performed on the external genital area (vulva/inner labia). The hymen is located 2-3 cm inside the vaginal opening. There is no contact or connection between the surgical site and the hymen, so it does not affect virginity.
This is the patients’ biggest concern, but it is unfounded in experienced hands. The inner labia are not the center of sexual pleasure (the center of pleasure is the clitoris). Since the nerve endings are not damaged during surgery, there is no permanent loss of sensation. On the contrary, getting rid of the excess tissue increases sexual comfort.
To allow the stitches to dissolve completely, the swelling to subside, and the tissue to gain resistance to friction, an average of 4-6 weeks of sexual abstinence (refraining from intercourse) is recommended. Early intercourse can cause the stitches to open, leading to pain and infection.
The genital area is a mucosal tissue and has excellent blood supply. Therefore, it is one of the fastest and most scar-free healing areas of the body. Three to four months after surgery, the stitches fade and become barely noticeable, even to doctors.
Normal childbirth can widen the vaginal opening but does not lengthen the inner labia. The results of labiaplasty are permanent; since the sagging tissue is surgically removed, it does not grow back or lengthen. The results are lifelong.
