The passage of time, our genetic heritage, and gravity leave inevitable marks on our faces. Starting from the 40s and 50s, as the skin loses its elasticity, cheeks sag downward, the jawline loses its definition, deep grooves (marionette lines) form at the corners of the mouth, and sagging begins in the neck area.
Medical aesthetic methods such as fillers, Botox, or thread lifts can hide these effects in the early stages; however, when there is significant skin excess and deep tissue sagging, the most effective, permanent, and natural solution is Facelift surgery.
Dr. Andan Clinic applies modern surgical techniques that preserve the individual’s natural facial expressions, avoiding the “mask face” appearance. A facelift is not just a skin-stretching procedure. If only the skin is stretched, the result is short-lived and artificial. For true rejuvenation, the muscle and connective tissue layer under the skin (SMAS) must also be moved to its anatomical position.
Advanced techniques applied at Dr. Andan Clinic, such as the Deep Plane Facelift, provide a radical restoration that takes the face back 10–15 years.
Different surgical approaches are applied depending on the degree of facial deformation:
Mini Facelift: Applied to younger patients (ages 40–50) if there is only cheek sagging and jawline disruption. The incision is only in front of the ear and is shorter. The recovery process is very fast.
Classic Facelift: Applied for significant sagging in the cheek, jawline, and neck area. The incision begins in the temple area, circles in front of the ear, and extends behind the ear.
Deep Plane Facelift: In this technique, in which Dr. Andan Clinic specializes, the SMAS layer under the skin is released and moved upward as a block. This method restores fullness to the cheeks (midface), opens the nasolabial folds in the best possible way, and provides the most natural, long-lasting result. Since there is no tension on the skin, the scars heal perfectly.
An inseparable part of facelift surgery is neck aesthetics. When the face is moved upward, leaving the neck sagging disrupts the aesthetic integrity. Neck Lift is the process of removing “jowl” fats under the chin (liposuction) and tightening the sagging neck muscle (Platysma).
Thus, that youthful and sharp angle between the chin and the neck is recreated. The “turkey neck” appearance and vertical bands are completely removed.
Additionally, Fat Injection (Lipofilling) is frequently performed during facelift surgeries. While the face is being lifted, fat pads that have dissolved over time (temples, under the eyes, cheekbones) are filled with the patient’s own fat, increasing skin quality and radiance.
The biggest concern for patients is the question: “Will there be stitch scars on my face?” Dr. Andan Clinic hides incisions within anatomical folds (inside the tragus, the scalp, and the fold behind the ear). Because aesthetic suturing techniques are used, these scars take on the skin color when healing is complete and are not noticed unless looked at closely, even if you pull your hair back.
The recovery process is not as difficult as it is thought to be. Following the surgery, a hospital stay of 1–2 days is required. There will be a special bandage on the face. Swelling and bruising are expected during the first week. Stitches are removed on the 7th to 10th day. Patients can generally return to their social lives 2 weeks later by applying makeup.
Facelift surgery is a journey of transformation. Our goal is not to make you “someone else,” but to introduce you to a “younger and fresher you.” In the experienced hands of Dr. Andan Clinic, it is possible to erase the effects of time and see a face that reflects the energy inside you when you look in the mirror.
No. This artificial appearance only occurred with older techniques where the skin was stretched excessively. With the SMAS and Deep Plane techniques used at our clinic, the load is carried by the underlying muscle tissue, not the skin. This allows the skin to drape naturally, preserving facial expressions and the structure of the mouth.
Surgical facelifts turn back the clock by 10-15 years. The ageing process does not stop after surgery, it continues; however, the patient always continues to look much younger than their peers. The results are permanent and do not require annual repeat procedures like medical treatments.
For mild sagging, thread lifts or fillers are effective. However, if there is significant excess skin (skin piling up in front of the ear) and muscle laxity, non-surgical methods are insufficient. Surgery is essential for a definitive solution and to define the jawline.
Biological age is more important than calendar age. It is generally requested after the age of 45-50, but a 40-year-old patient who experiences early sagging due to genetics or a 70-year-old patient whose skin has remained firm can also undergo surgery. At Dr. Andan Clinic, patient selection is based on tissue quality.
When performed through the scalp, special angled incisions are made that do not damage the hair follicles. This ensures that there is no hair loss (alopecia) along the scar line, and the scar remains hidden among the hair.
